Project Members
Carol Brighton is an artist, papermaker, and teacher in Berkeley, California. Her art work has been shown internationally. Her skills as a papermaker, Chinese language skills and experience as a frequent tour leader throughout Asia all enrich the project.
Jim Canary is the Head Conservator at the Lilly Library, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. He has been a long-time student of Tibetan and Mongolian, and researches the codicology of the book in Tibet and Mongolia. Jim is a key member of the international Tibetan Archives Preservation Project and will spend time in Lhasa working on this important project.
Jane Farmer is an independent curator, formerly of the Smithsonian Institution, who has organized traveling exhibitions and international exchanges for over 20 years in Washington, DC. She has written extensively on the history of paper, contemporary paperworks and artist's books. She is the project director of Paper Road/Tibet and the president of Crossing Over Consortium, Inc.
Tom Leech is an artist, papermaker, marbler, printer and teacher in Colorado Springs, Colorado. His participation in the Everest Environmental Project in the early 90's was the catalyst that brought the PRT group together. His technical experience as a papermaker and printer are particularly essential in the establishment of a professional papermaking and print workshop in Tibet.
