Our Growing Team

Paper Road/Tibet is delighted to introduce Nimto Sherpa as our newest working member. Nimto accepted our invitation to join the project last summer. He has worked with us in a variety of capacities since we first met him in 1995, and has taught at the school in Lhasa twice. Over the years it has become obvious to us that his contributions are invaluable.

In addition to Nimto’s work at Tibetan Handicraft Industry in Kathmandu, he is also the Chairman of his Village Development Committee, bringing education and sound environmental and agricultural practices to his village.

Nimto recently married Ngawang Sherpa, from a nearby village. They are now living in an apartment near the THI workshop.

As Nimto explains, "it is in the Sherpa traditional to travel and bring news of the outside world back to the home village". An experienced guide, linguist, entrepreneur and craftsman, Nimto will follow Sherpa tradition and expand his horizons this summer on his first trip to the U.S. We hope you will get the chance to meet him at one of his speaking engagements in Washington DC, Colorado, California and New York City.
